Waiver of Registration Fees

As a student at Université Grenoble Alpes, you may be exempt from paying tuition fees if you meet certain criteria.
There are several possible scenarios.

You are a scholarship recipient

If you are a CROUs scholarship recipient or a recipient of a French government scholarship (through Campus France) and the program you will be taking is eligible for scholarships, You won't have to pay the registration fee.
  • If you are about to register for the course “
    ” Simply present your scholarship certificate for the current academic year to your registrar’s office to waive the registration fee.
  • If you are already enrolled in the program and have already paid the registration fee
    You are entitled to request a full refund of the registration fee. To do so, you must submit your final scholarship award letter to your registrar’s office. Be sure to also provide them with your bank account information in your name so that the university can issue the refund.

You are a ward of the state

You are fully exempt from registration fees. All you need to do is provide a copy of Your "Ward of the Nation" card at your registrar's office.

You have a disability

If your Mobility and Inclusion Card If your CMI card, issued by the Departmental Office for People with Disabilities, bears the notation "Disability," you may be fully exempt from registration fees. Simply provide a copy of your CMI card to your registrar's office.

You have refugee status

Students who have refugee status, are asylum seekers, or are granted subsidiary protection are exempt from registration fees. You must provide the document that verifies your status at your registrar's office.

Are you experiencing financial difficulties?

If you are experiencing financial hardship and your situation does not fall under any of the categories listed above, you may apply for a waiver of the registration fee. Your application will be reviewed by a committee.

How do I apply?

Application for Waiver of Registration Fees is done online on a dedicated platform:
  • Log in to the platform.
  • Fill out the application form and follow the instructions.
  • Please attach all supporting documents that are requested.
  • Once you have completed and submitted your online form, you will receive an automated email confirming that your request has been received.

Calendar

For the 2026–2027 academic year, the deadlines for submitting your application are as follows:

  • October 1, 2026: The committee will review your application in mid-October 2026.
  • November 1, 2026: The committee will review your application in mid-November 2026.
  • December 1, 2026: The committee will review your application in mid-December 2026.

Who is not eligible for these exemptions?

This system does not apply to everyone. You cannot apply for a waiver of the registration fee if:
  • You are enrolled in a program that is not a national degree (such as a DU or a CU).
  • You are enrolled in continuing education.
  • You are enrolled in an apprenticeship or professional training program.
  • You are a foreign student and have never been enrolled in higher education in France.
  • You have already earned a degree at the same level.
  • Your application is incomplete, or your financial difficulties have not been substantiated.
