The Graduate School@UGA's Thematic Programs

To enroll in the Graduate School@UGA, you must first choose one of the 18 thematic programs offered.

Good to Know

  • It is essential that your current master's or engineering program be affiliated with the thematic program you have chosen.
  • Your enrollment in the thematic program is in addition to your enrollment in the master's program.
  • These thematic programs are designed to be innovative, interdisciplinary, and strongly focused on scientific research.
  • The idea is to bring together students from different fields of study around a common theme, so that you can work together to develop a broader, interdisciplinary approach to research starting at the master's level.

Specific course units (CUs)

Once you are admitted to a thematic program, some of your regular master's courses will be replaced by Specific EU at the Graduate School@UGA, representing the equivalent of at least 6 ECTS credits per year.

These course units are distinguished by their teaching methods:
  • An interactive and immersive approach:
The courses are designed to put you at the center of the learning experience. You can expect collaborative workshops, real-world projects, and discussions with international experts.
  • Developing Key Skills:
This approach not only allows you to master the fundamental knowledge of your field, but above all to develop transferable skills (critical thinking, collaboration, etc.). These skills are essential for success in the ever-changing academic and professional worlds.
