This thematic program aims to provide a solid foundation in the areas of technological, natural, and financial risks, and more specifically in crisis prevention and management (including coordination, planning, and civil protection), the resilience of critical infrastructure and regions, as well as risk insurance and coverage.

The world is undergoing profound changes: the population is growing, mobility is increasing, and urban areas are increasingly exposed to natural, technological, and social risks.

Therefore, it is necessary to train managers, mediators, and researchers who can actively contribute to making our societies more resilient to risks. This is the main objective of the Risk program.

The second objective is to better bring together Grenoble’s training and research teams involved in risk and crisis management, to raise their profile and make them more attractive—particularly on the international stage—and to promote employability.
There will also be a strong emphasis on crisis management, an area that is not adequately covered in current training programs.

Risk Course Units (UE)

This thematic program is structured around:

  • A mentored research project inthe first year (6 ECTS) designed to provide students with research experience on an issue related to modeling, analysis, assessment, or decision-making in the field of risk.
  • A second-year summer school on risk (6 ECTS) designed to provide a foundation in risk management (domino effects, crisis simulation, resilience/governance, and decision support) by building on the knowledge gained from previous summer schools (CDP Risk) and introducing new topics (such as pandemic management).
