International Exchange Students: Guidelines for Drafting the Study Agreement

Have you been selected by your home university to apply to the University ofUniversité Grenoble Alpes s (UGA)? Congratulations! Follow this guide to complete your study agreement.

Before you begin: Choose your host school

For your exchange program, you must choose most of your courses in a single college, school, or department. This is what is known as your hospitality.

Step 1: Download the research contract template

  • If you are coming as part of the Erasmus+ program:
    Request the Erasmus+ study agreement template from the international relations office at your home university.
  • If you are coming as part of another program:
    Download the UGA study agreement directly online
 
Warning

If you are applying to the School of Medicine, do not fill out your student contract right away. Contact the International Relations team directly at the following address to find out what steps to take:

Step 2: Choose your classes

Rules to Follow

Select courses from your host college. Most of your courses must be in the same college.

  • University Institute of Technology (IUT2 Grenoble)
  • Department of Chemistry and Biology
  • Faculty of Language, Literature, Performing Arts, Information, and Communication (LLASIC)
  • Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHS)
At least 2 courses per semester A maximum of 2 courses per semester
  • Faculty of Arts and Humanities (ARSH)
  • Department of Computer Science, Mathematics, and Applied Mathematics (IM²AG)
  • Faculty of Physics, Engineering, Earth Sciences, Environment, and Mechanical Engineering (PhITEM)
  • Faculty of Societies, Cultures, and Foreign Languages (SoCLE)
At least 51% No restrictions

In addition to your core courses, you can choose:
  • A French as a Foreign Language (FLE) course for the duration of your stay.
  • Two cross-disciplinary courses (ETC) to be chosen from among the following:
    • Language courses (up to 2 courses per semester) in Grenoble or Valence.
    • Physical education classes (no more than one class per semester) in Grenoble or Valence.
    • Other specialized courses (up to 2 courses per semester) in Grenoble.

Credits 

Make sure to meet the minimum credit requirement set by your home university, without exceeding 30 credits per semester at UGA.

Period

Make sure the courses you choose are offered during the semester(s) of your stay. You can choose courses at any level, as long as you meet the prerequisites.

Location

UGA has campuses in several locations, including Grenoble, Valence , and other places in the region. To make things easier for you, choose classes on the same campus if possible, or at least in the same city.

Step 3: Fill out your contract

Check the course catalog for exchange students to choose your courses.

Once you have made your selections, fill out the enrollment form.

Step 4: Have your study contract approved and signed

Have your home university sign the contract, then sign it yourself before submitting your application to UGA. UGA will sign the contract once your application has been accepted.
 
Warning

If you are applying to the Department of Societies, Cultures, and Foreign Languages (SoCLE), contact your international relations coordinator to find out the procedure to follow.

Step 5: Confirm your contract upon arrival at UGA

Once you arrive atUniversité Grenoble Alpes, you may need to make changes to your course registration (for example, if a class is full or the schedule doesn't work for you).

To finalize your contract, Contact the academic advisor at your host school. He will help you make the necessary adjustments.
