To help them balance high-level sports with their higher education, high-level student-athletes (E SHN) at the CUFE benefit from an exceptional support system.

Tailored educational support

Theeducational support The SHN student program is offered in all academic programs at the University of Grenoble (Université Grenoble Alpes , UGA) and its three constituent institutions: Grenoble INP, Sciences Po Grenoble, and the École nationale supérieure d’architecture de Grenoble. This allows athletes to choose their program of study based on their interests and career goals, rather than by default based on the programs that happen to be available.

The academic support program is structured around the athletes’ athletic commitments. It is also personalized: each SHN student is supported by an SHN advisor and a faculty coordinator in their field of study. They may also receive assistance from an academic advisor who specializes in supporting SHN students and a social support privileged.

Optimized training conditions

The CUFEs are the result of a partnership between the federal sports community and the academic community. They are based on the pooling of resources: the university provides sports facilities, while the sports community (federations, leagues, committees, and clubs) provides technical staff and coaches. This partnership enables every SHN student to benefit from highly qualified coaching, high-quality sports facilities, and a close geographical proximity between their place of study and their training locations (training pool and weight room on campus). This proximity minimizes time lost to commuting and promotes success in pursuing both academic and athletic goals.

CUFE members can also benefit from a scientific approach to training: learning mental skills, isokinetic testing, energy system power testing, and more…

Enhanced medical and paramedical care

SHN students at the CUFE have access to a comprehensive and enhanced sports medicine program, ranging from treatment of traumatic injuries to the organization of initiatives that foster the conditions for athletic performance. They can undergo a thorough medical examination followed by long-term monitoring, and are guaranteed a medical consultation within 24 hours. They also have access to a physical therapy clinic for emergency care, recovery treatments (cold water baths, saunas, drainage boots), or rehabilitation, for a total of 15 hours per week.

Before you can join the CUFE, you mustApply for SHN student status.

Flag football

The CUFE American Football - Flag program offers practice sessions on the Saint-Martin-d'Hères campus and at the facilities of the local club, the Centaures de Grenoble.

Olivier Moret

Olivier Moret

Technical Director of the French American Football Federation (FFFA)

"For the FFFA, elite-level competition is inseparable from the ability to successfully pursue both athletic and educational goals. The opening of the CUFE for American Football and Flag Football—two disciplines recognized as elite-level sports by the Ministry of Sports—is therefore excellent news! Students in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region now have, right on their doorstep, a training environment designed to foster high performance and an ideal, personalized setting for their academic development. These are all assets that will enable them to compete for spots on the national teams."

Franck Lazaro

Franck Lazaro

"Our CUFE is dedicated to supporting our top student-athletes in American football and flag football as they pursue both their athletic and academic goals. The pursuit of elite-level performance and academic success demands a level of commitment and determination from our young prospects that must be supported and nurtured on a daily basis. The combined efforts of the UGA and the League create a positive synergy and an environment conducive to each athlete’s success. Everything is in place in the Grenoble area to help our athletes reach the top..."

Myriam Thiebaut

Myriam Thiebaut

President of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes American Football League (LARAFA)

"The League has long been working on a way to allow young athletes to continue their education while maintaining high-quality training and remaining members of their respective clubs. This project is finally coming to fruition: the first CUFE American/Flag Football center is opening its doors in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in partnership with the UGA and with the support of the FFFA. The LARAFA’s goal: genuine regional development where clubs find a common interest without risking a decline in their membership."
