What benefits does the status of "high-level student artist" provide?

High-level student-artist (EAHN) status allows you to benefit from a educational support so that you can pursue your artistic endeavors while continuing your studies.

You are then entitled to various study accommodations, implemented in accordance with the requirements and capabilities of the training programs:
  • Schedule adjustments (changes to lab or tutorial groups).
  • Authorization for One-Time Absences.
  • Extended study period (completing one academic year over two years).
  • Note-taking.
  • Student Tutoring.
  • Teacher support.
  • Others, depending on your constraints and needs (and the possibilities offered by your training program).
The EAHN status also offers you a Support for artistic growth with the aim of supporting and enriching your artistic practice:
  • Free access to campus facilities (studios, design labs, weight rooms, etc.).
  • Training.
  • Masterclasses and meetings.
  • Invitations to events.
  • Support from the cultural services of the university and the CROUS.
  • Medical and paramedical care.
  • Grants for Artistic Projects.
  • Access to CROUS housing reserved for elite student athletes and artists.

What are the criteria for obtaining the status of high-level student artist?

There are two ways to obtain EAHN status:

"By right"

"Full-time" high-level performing arts students are those who are simultaneously enrolled in a program at an accredited partner institution in Cycle 2 (vocal), Cycle 3 (instrumental, dance, theater, etc.), or a professional training program (specialized program / CPES / COP).

List of participating facilities:
  • Grenoble Conservatory.
  • Valence Conservatory, Romans Agglo.
  • Chambéry Conservatory.
  • Hector Berlioz Conservatory in Bourgoin-Jallieu.
  • Annecy Conservatory.
  • Vit'anim Circus School (professional program only).

"Based on criteria"

If you do not meet the "eligibility" criteria but you demonstrate a large-scale art project, in which case you may be eligible for "merit-based" status. Your application will be reviewed by a joint committee, which will evaluate your artistic ability and assess your involvement in an artistic project spread out over the academic year.

The Special Case of the Grenoble School of Art and Design - Valence

Students wishing to pursue a dual degree at Université Grenoble Alpes and the École supérieure d'art et design de Grenoble - Valence must contact the EAHN program manager (mission manager) without delay by email to discuss the procedures.

How do I apply for high-level student-artist status?

You must be enrolled at Université Grenoble Alpes and You must submit an application on the dedicated platform during the application periods. There are two application periods during the academic year.

Warning
  • Simply checking the “student artist” box on Parcoursup is not enough to qualify for EAHN status. This status is granted solely based on an analysis of the application submitted through the platform by a committee that meets in July and October.
  • In the case of dual enrollment (UGA and Conservatory, UGA and ESAD, etc.), students with EAHN status must pay tuition fees at both institutions in accordance with the regulations and fee schedules in effect at each institution (check with the conservatories or other institutions for enrollment dates and requirements).

To complete your application, you must provide the following information and documents:
  • Student number (if you are already enrolled at Université Grenoble Alpes).
  • Two photos of you: one in portrait format and one showing your artistic practice.
  • Resume or portfolio.
  • A cover letter outlining your dual academic and artistic goals.
  • Estimate the number of hours per week you spend on your practice (all activities combined).
  • Multimedia formats that can be used to assess artistic ability (audio, video, etc.).
  • For musicians, dancers, circus performers, actors, etc.: a solo performance lasting at least one minute.

Whether your application is based on “eligibility” or “criteria,” the artistic portfolio is exactly the same and must be prepared with the same care.

Calendar

The application periods for EAHN status for the 2026–2027 academic year are now closed.

For the upcoming academic year, the first application period will begin in mid-April 2027. The schedule and application process will be posted on this page when the time comes.
