Studying Abroad Through an Exchange Program: Planning Your Experience

Going abroad, regardless of the project or destination, requires preparation and careful thought. If you want to study abroad as part of an exchange program, you need to develop a project and apply directly through Université Grenoble Alpes. The application campaign takes place once a year, from mid-October to mid-November, for a departure the following year. Remember to plan ahead!
To study at a university abroad, you must:
  1. Attend the information sessions held each year between September and October or the spring sessions between March and April.
  2. Choose a destination compatible with your studies at Université Grenoble Alpes.
  3. Have your language proficiency tested in the language of instruction at your chosen destination.
  4. Meet with the teams responsible for international relations at your unit (school, college, or institute).
  5. Prepare an application file for Université Grenoble Alpes and apply online from October to November.
  6. Get selected by the Université Grenoble Alpes committees, which will then validate one of your destinations and nominate you to the partner university in question.
  7. Prepare an application for the partner university.
  8. If the application is definitively approved, begin the consular procedures (outside the European Union, if necessary).
  9. Confirm your academic year.
  10. Apply for available funding.
  11. Have your final study plan approved.
  12. Get your visa.
  13. Let's take off!
Support is available at every step, either at Université Grenoble Alpes or at the partner university. So, go for it!
