International students: doing an internship at the Université Grenoble Alpes

Are you an international student interested in coming to France to do an internship at the University ofUniversité Grenoble Alpes s (UGA)? Here are the steps to follow.

Requirements to Be Met

To be an intern at UGA, you must enrolled in a higher education institution, whether French or foreign.

If you are coming from one of our partner universities, please note that a specific partnership agreement covering the internship is not required. You may come on the same terms as any other student. Your mobility will then be considered “unsupervised,” unless a specific agreement (such as Erasmus Student Mobility for Placement—SMP, which primarily applies to the health sector) provides for supervision.

The Internship Agreement: A Required Document

A An internship agreement is required for any professional immersion period at UGA. The host organization will provide you with a template. This document must be signed before the start of the internship by the host organization, you (the intern), and your home university.

If you are completing your internship as part of the Erasmus+ program, you will need to obtain additional documents from your home university:
  • An Erasmus+ internship learning agreement (learning agreement for traineeship mobilities).
  • A certificate of completion specific to the Erasmus+ program at the end of your program.
These documents are essential if you wish to receive an Erasmus+ grant from your home institution and earn ECTS credits. For more details, please contact your university.

What French law says

Any internship completed in France is subject to French law.
  • If you complete more than 308 hours of internship, you will receive a stipend.
  • You'll also be entitled to certain benefits, such as time off and reimbursement for your public transportation costs.
  • Please note: Depending on its duration, your internship agreement may need to be filed with the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Regional Directorate for Enterprises, Competition, Consumer Affairs, Labor, and Employment.
