Open Badges

Your college experience is about more than just your classes and exams. Active participation in a project, a tutoring program, a workshop, or an event is just as important. To recognize these commitments—which help you develop valuable skills—we’ve introduced Open Badges.

What is an Open Badge?

An Open Badge is official digital recognition that attests to your skills. It is a kind of unique virtual badge that contains verifiable information, such as the reason it was awarded, the person who issued it, and the date.

This digital format has one major advantage: You can easily share it on your online profiles (LinkedIn, for example) or include it in your resume to highlight your career path to recruiters.

What types of achievements can be recognized through an Open Badge?

These badges allow you to highlight everything you've learned outside of class :
  • A skill (for example, project management).
  • Expertise.
  • Attendance at an event.
  • A specific role (such as that of a tutor).
  • A commitment to community service.
