In light of ecological, economic, and digital transitions, the Steen research program aims to better understand and interpret these transitions through an interdisciplinary, innovative, and international approach rooted in the humanities and social sciences. To this end, the program collaborates with the UGA Design Factory as part of its thematic schools.
The Steen Thematic Program offers a comprehensive, multidisciplinary graduate and research track—from the master’s through the doctoral level—at the intersection of the social sciences (sociology, economics, management, law, and political science).

Open to students enrolled in master's programs across multiple departments and associated institutions at Université Grenoble Alpes, the graduate school offers training at the master's and doctoral levels, built on scientific strengths. This program is characterized by an interdisciplinary approach and a strong connection between research and teaching.

The Steen thematic program requires, at the master’s level, annual participation in an interdisciplinary, collaborative research project (4 ECTS) and participation in two thematic schools per year (2 ECTS awarded for one of them) as well as in the program’s seminars. These activities bring together M1 and M2 students, and credits specific to the Steen program are awarded for the same activities in both years.

With a focus on research-based education, this new structure for the master’s and doctoral programs will allow you to build your career path year after year, whether in academic or industrial research, the private sector, or entrepreneurship. Trained in and through research, students benefit from numerous employment opportunities in the public, private, and entrepreneurial sectors, as well as in academia.
