TransCoG - Transdisciplinary Training in Cognition in Grenoble

Within the TransCoG thematic program, master’s programs in cognitive science, psychology, linguistics, and philosophy pool their resources to offer a high-level interdisciplinary program in cognitive science, supported by a broad research program on the brain and cognition. Our goal is to foster interdisciplinary training in cognition, with an international perspective and a focus on cognition in all its forms.

How to Apply

Courses are taught in French or English, depending on the specific master’s program. The courses in the thematic program are taught primarily in English.

To apply for this program, you must first be admitted to the first year of a master’s program in one of the following fields:

Course Units (UE) in the Thematic Program

Two specific course units will be offered:

  • In the first year of the master’s program (M1), an “interdisciplinary research training seminar” will be offered (6 ECTS), consisting of a series of 10 international seminars held at laboratories in Grenoble in the fields of psychology, philosophy, language sciences, and cognitive sciences. These will be prepared with a professor prior to the seminars and discussed with the professor and guest researchers afterward, before student groups from diverse disciplinary backgrounds write a report.
  • In the M2 program, an “international training module on methods and issues in cognitive science” will be offered (6 ECTS), consisting of a week of lectures given by visiting international researchers (6 ECTS), focusing on specific topics and tools, followed by an exam on the technical content of the lectures.
